We went to this park with the
intention of going to the playground and possibly doing some light
hiking. However, our plans quickly changed when the playground was closed
off with ropes and it's surrounding hiking paths were as well.
This was terribly disappointing
because O and I love roller slides and Kenmin-no-Mori's is supposedly the
longest one on island. That and the "playground" only seemed to
consist of the roller slide and then another stone slide with a mini-climbing
wall to get to the top. The rest of the area was open fields with a shop
you could rent sports equipment to play with. So basically, it was more
suited for older groups of children instead of for toddlers.
I didn't bring my child carrier, so
a more adult hike was out of the question. So instead, we decided to go
back down the road and check out the fancy wall and Torii we had passed on our
way in. This turned out just to be a small arboretum, but O enjoyed running
through the trees and going up and down the unusual entrance-way stairs.
We also had passed some statues and
went to see those as well. This was also a large open field area with a
few picnic tables and randomly placed statues. In the back, there was a
little garden type area with more statues as well. O liked sitting and
eating her snacks with the angels and laying on the warm stones of the rock
formation statues. She got quite mad at me when she wasn't allowed to
play with the pig statues because they were covered in spider webs with these
huge brown spiders inhabiting them. Which also freaked me out a little, I
don't like spiders, so we left shortly thereafter.
